Mel Counter Strategy — Pokémon Unbound

🏟️ Arena Field Effect: Inverse Battle Zone

Rule Modification

The type effectiveness chart is completely reversed. Normal moves are super effective against Ghost-type. Fighting is resisted by Normal.

💡 Immunity & Counter Tip: Rethink all matchups: Normal-type Pokémon are now weak to Ghost-types, and Ghost-types are weak to Normal. Choose your attacks based on reversed effectiveness.

🛡️ Recommended Counter Teams & Tactics

Ghost-type Offensive Sweep

Easy
Budget Friendly Core: Mismagius, Gengar

Ghost-type attacks are super effective against Normal-types in Inverse Battles. Mismagius or Gengar can hit Mel's team hard.

Lead Turn-by-Turn:
  • T1: Lead with Gengar. Use Shadow Ball (hits Normal-type for 2x damage).
  • T2+: Continue hitting with Shadow Ball. Keep Gengar away from their Normal-type attacks which are now super effective against Gengar.

Toxic Spikes & Hex Stall

Medium
Core: Cofagrigus, Roserade

Use Roserade to lay Toxic Spikes. Switch to Cofagrigus to wall and deal double damage with Hex on poisoned targets.

Lead Turn-by-Turn:
  • T1: Lead Roserade and set Toxic Spikes.
  • T2: Switch to Cofagrigus. Use Will-O-Wisp or Hex to dismantle Staraptor/Bewear.
